If following Jesus impacts every area of our life, what could that look like in the workplace?

We believe that every Christian can minister wherever they work, expressing worship to God in the ways that they serve clients and colleagues, and seeking excellence in all that they do.

Worship encompasses so much more than a Sunday activity or a morning devotional, and Spirit-filled work is not limited to roles in a local church! In professional areas from research, consulting, and technology, to sales and accounting, we have practised putting Christ at the centre of our work, seeking His Spirit in all things, for His glory.

Just imagine the impact of the Church across the world if every believer was activated to see their work as worship and an opportunity to minister?

A theology of work

Work. A word that conjures up a myriad of reactions in people and an area of life that can feel disconnected from our faith in Jesus. But what if there is more to discover about our work as a spiritual practice with significant eternal impact?

The Word of God has much to teach us about God’s intended design and purpose for work – a good thing that He gave us the privilege to partake in as His image bearers. We learn from the Scriptures that our work is firstly an act of worship unto the Lord.

Unfortunately, like all good things, work became distorted as a result of humanity’s rebellion against the Creator, and that’s the context in which we engage with our day-to-day work.

We invite you to join a community of believers who are eager to reclaim the true nature of work and discover how their work fits in God’s plans. We’re going back to the Source of wisdom to seek an understanding of work that aligns with His original intent and to allow that truth to transform our thinking and our approach.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Romans 12:2 (NLT)

Engaging with work from a Biblical paradigm is a game-changer! We discover that Christ has redeemed work, He empowers us to show up at work as ‘salt & light’ and partners with us in our work to bring transformation to the people, places and systems that we engage with. Work becomes a means of Kingdom transformation!

Work as ministry

Work-Based Ministry, also known as Workplace or Marketplace Ministry, is a term we use to talk about a life of ministry that takes place through your everyday work.

As followers of Christ, many of us spend every day at work in the marketplace – the world of business, government, education and healthcare – often merely ‘surviving’ through the week, in an attempt not to let the secular world shape us. But the Lord’s will for us is that we impact that world for good, shining and ministering for Him right where we are, day-to-day.

Work-based ministry can be full-time ministry, without changing your career! It’s a change of mind, to see your work as service to the Lord, first.

As the Apostle Paul wrote to believers in his letter to the Colossians:

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters”

Colossians 3:23 (NIV)
