“Jesus doesn’t stop at the office door.”
Before engaging with Worship.Works, I saw my faith and my work as two separate parts of my life. I thought being a Christian at work meant living with good values and showing others who Jesus is through my character, but I didn’t really see my day-to-day work — sending emails, serving clients, attending meetings or completing tasks — as connected to my faith.
One of the biggest shifts for me was realising that God cares deeply about every person I interact with through my work. I began praying for my clients, even before calls, and prayer became an essential part of how I approach my work and serve others. I came to understand that there isn’t a divide between the sacred and the ordinary: work isn’t separate from worship; it’s one of the ways I can worship God and reflect who He is.
That has changed how I work. Knowing that I represent God encourages me to be more patient, gracious and intentional with colleagues, particularly when difficult conversations arise. With clients, I’ve learned that showing kindness, understanding and Jesus’ love matters just as much as solving the problem in front of me. I’ve also learned to involve God in the bigger decisions about my career rather than simply relying on my own plans.
I no longer see my job as separate from my faith, but as one of the places where God has called me to serve and make a difference. Ministry doesn’t only look like preaching, leading worship or serving in church. Sometimes it looks like praying for a client before a call, praying for a colleague who’s having a difficult time, or showing patience, kindness and grace in a challenging situation.
Jesus doesn’t stop at the office door. He is with you in every meeting, every email and every conversation. See your workplace not just as somewhere you earn a living, but as a place where God can work through you to impact others.
